A rare opportunity to watch the laying down of multi-coloured sands by Jamjang Sherab and Karma Gyasey, monks from the Jam Tse Dhargyey Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Northland, as they create a medicine mandala - a circular figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism. Timed to salute the completion of the Whakatāne Hospital redevelopment, Whakaora also includes works on the theme of healing by national and local artists.
