The Art Exchange Collection is a show that features works acquired by the Art Exchange group, a group based in Whakatāne who have a keen eye for art. Together they have purchased works from award-winners of the Molly Morpeth Awards from 2012 – 2022. This collection is the result of many hours of deliberation each year of the Molly Morpeth Canaday Awards. The pieces chosen have helped the group develop an understanding and enjoyment of both challenging and likeable art.

Eight Whakatāne artists have operated outside the classical hierachies of vanishing points and horizon lines, giving the observer a given perspective in time and place.
