Please include in your proposal:

  • A written statement (maximum of 500 words). This should include background on the exhibition participant(s) and their/your artistic practice, and an overview of what you intend to present. We understand the nature of working creatively and accept that the final realisation of the project might evolve from this initial proposal. The statement will serve as a starting point for a conversation with you. An artist CV is not required.
  • Visual materials, including photographs of the work to be shown, or documentation of recent projects that clearly indicate the type of work intended. For video and sound, please attach an appropriate file or a link to a website.
  • Practical information: we invite proposals for solo and group exhibitions. Please clearly state the main contact person, their contact phone number and email address. If the proposed project is a group show or curated show, a list of involved artists is important.
  • Please let us know if you have any preferred dates.
  • For further information or clarification, email arts@whakatane.govt.nz.
